Home Screen (Map View)
The first page to display when a user opens the app is the Home Screen, or the Map View. Serial 1 is proud to have partnered with Google in bringing direct integration of their industry-leading Google Maps program from within the Serial 1 app. From this page a user can see quick information about their bikes and initiate a few functions:
Current Mobile Device Location
The user's current location will be displayed on the map be a blue dot. If the map is not centered such that the blue dot appears, the user should click the GPS button represented by a bullseye.
Current Bike Location
The most recent location of the user's bikes will be noted on the map with a graphical bike balloon. This white pin will only appear if the user is far enough away from the bike to not be connected via Bluetooth. If the user is connected via Bluetooth, the blue location dot will indicate the bike location.
Traffic Display
For users who may be navigating roadways, the current traffic situation (from Google Maps) can be toggled on/off using the Traffic button represented by a stoplight.
Google Maps Navigation
Along the top of the map is a search bar stating "Where to?". By clicking in this box a user can choose a destination by either typing in an address / location (which will auto-populate selections) or "Pick On The Map" a specific location.
Once a destination is selected, Google Maps will display the preferred route from the user's current location. The app is designed to utilize Google Maps' built-in bicycle route navigation when possible.
Clicking "Start Navigation" will initiate the familiar Google Turn-By-Turn navigation, as well as initiate the Active Dashboard (if connected to a bike).
Active Dashboard
While the Ride mode is activated (whether utilizing Turn-By-Turn navigation or not) the app screen will display both the map and an Active Dashboard. The Active Dashboard can be shown minimized at the bottom of the map screen, or pulled upwards to expand the data (but minimize the map view).
There is a lot of useful information presented on the Active Dashboard:
- Headlight Status indicates whether the headlight on the bike is on or off.
- A Clock displays the current time.
- The Leaf status indicates if the rider is biking in the most efficient manner, in relation to power output.
- The two left-hand bars show the total system power output and the associated split between vehicle power (lower, green bar) and rider power (top, orange bar).
- The center console shows the current selected Assist Level, the current speed of the bike, and estimated remaining battery range. NOTE: The battery range estimation will vary depending on recent riding habits and Assist Levels and should be used as a guide.
- The two right-hand bars show energy consumption (lower is more efficient) and the current battery level.
- Distance traveled on the current Ride is displayed on the bottom left.
- Time spent on the current Ride is displayed on the bottom right.
- A ride can be Paused or Finished via the buttons along the bottom.
Finish Rides
When a user exits the turn-by-turn navigation the app will provide three options:
- Close & Save Ride Data
- Close & Don't Save Ride Data
- Continue Ride Tracking
